Dating back to the twelfth century, in 1621 the church and the annexed convent were entrusted to San Giuseppe Calasanzio, who made it the general curia of the Scolopi order. The current church was rebuilt between 1681 and 1689 to a design by the architect Antonio de Rossi, while the facade dates back to the early nineteenth century and is the work of Valadier.
Urban Vision has sponsored two phases of restoration work. In 2005, the dismantling and reconstruction of the roman roof covering and of the decorated and similar tiles, the sorting and stocking of the good ones were carried out. Restoration of pipes, gutters, lead slabs and descenders also included restoration of walls and washing. In 2008/2009 the restoration of the wooden trusses features took place, with consolidation of the roofs and the relative support beams.
