Adjacent to the basilica, the building born as a general house currently houses the headquarters of the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Rome and the “San Lorenzo in Lucina” station. The building was designed by Fanzago himself and has an imposing façade characterized by severe and elegant lines. Having passed into the full availability of the provincial administration of Rome in 1875, the palace was destined to house the barracks of the Royal Carabinieri.
Named after Lieutenant Colonel Giovanni Frignani, “Gold Medal for Military Valor”, the barracks is currently the headquarters of the Carabinieri Provincial Command of Rome and of the “San Lorenzo in Lucina” station. Restoration work sponsored by Urban Vision began in March 2012.
