The church of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Naviglio is a place of Catholic worship in Milan. It rises on the left bank of the final stretch of the Naviglio Grande, about 300 meters from the confluence of the latter in the Dock.
The exterior of the church has remained almost completely unfinished. The façade, with highlights, has a rough brick wall. Its current shape allows to reconstruct the project not realized: it included three portals lunettati each of which had to be surmounted by a high polyphore (mullioned windows above the side portals, three-light window above the central portal)and a crowning with angular spires containing statues; a larger spire was to stand in the center above the tympanum and accommodate the statue of the Madonna. At present, only the lantern and the bell tower are finished. The first, placed above the cruise, has an octagonal plan and has on each side an ogival lunette that gives light inside; it is surmounted by a lantern, also with an octagonal plan. The bell tower is located at the back of the apse.Milan | Alzaia Naviglio Grande
