Built to replace the suspended metal bridge named after Maria Teresa, the Umberto I bridge is a monumental presence that allows the crossing of the Po in Corso Vittorio and the Crimea village.
In 1911, four allegorical sculptural groups were added to adorn the bridge; Luigi Conrati (1868-1923) executed the Pietà and the Value on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Cesare Reduzzi (1857-1911) instead created the Art and Industry, on the Corso Fiume side.
